Sustainable and Ethical Fashion Label.
Spun Kit is not just a fashion label that produces high quality, handmade garments and accessories, it is on the frontier of the newly growing awareness within sustainable fashion design and production. Customers are becoming more aware of the impacts their clothing choices have on the environment, as this awareness grows, I am observing more customers searching for alternative fashion designs and materials.

Spun Kit is a result of two of my greatest passions in life, enabling me to express myself with my creativity and have minimal impact on the environment around me. This has seen spunkit become a sustainable and ethical fashion label, instilling my values and beliefs, incorporating environmental awareness into the designing and production of my fashion garments and accessories. That’s why all designing, patternmaking, cutting and sewing are carried out by myself in my ‘zero waste’ home studio, reducing transport and packaging waste. In fact, little is wasted in the manufacturing process.
The ‘zero waste’ studio located in Glen Innes where all aspects of production are held sees a lot of sustainable and ethical processes including,
• Using renewable solar energy for all production purposes.
• Collecting rainwater to pre wash all fabrics and using natural detergents for clean grey water dispersion.
• Recycles all fabrics, with all off cuts reused for accessories and or donated to schools and local people whom enjoy patchwork.
• Recycles all studio paper.
• Designs are made from cotton fabrics which are the most biodegradable fabrics.
• Locally sourced fabrics and materials.
• Planting native trees in the local area to offset any carbon emissions from freight and delivery.
Sustainable and ethical fashion design is the way of the future not only for the fashion industry but also for all industries, in a world where we consume more than necessary and with global environmental factors increasing we need to start looking and planning for a sustainable and minimalist future to get our beloved nature that supports us every day in balance.
